Chattanooga Track Club announces marathon training program

Chattanooga Track Club announces Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon training program, kick-off party

Chattanooga, TN - 28 July 2011 - The Chattanooga Track Club hosted an informational session and media event tonight at The Children's Hospital during which they formally announced a training program for the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and the kick-off event for the Junior Miracle Marathon.

Both the training program and the Junior Miracle Marathon will kick-off on Saturday morning at the Chickamauga Battlefield. The training run will begin at 7AM from the Battlefield Visitors Center lower parking lot, with an official kick-off event beginning at 11AM at Barnhart Circle, which serves as the start and finish area for the Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and Half Marathon.

The Junior Miracle Marathon will kick-off at 11:30AM when 1st through 6th grade students will run the initial mile of the marathon around Barnhart Circle. The Junior Miracle Marathon is presented in partnership with the Children's Hospital Foundation at Erlanger Hospital.

The Chattanooga Track Club also formally announced a personal training program which will be led by Bonnie Wassin, a CTC member who has raced in over 50 marathons. The training program, which will be catered for beginning marathoners, will follow the popular Jeff Galloway training method and will train for a 5 hour, 30 minute marathon.

The Chickamauga Battlefield Marathon and Half Marathon, as well as the final mile of the Junior Miracle Marathon, will take place on November 12. The half marathon has sold out, and the marathon has less than 100 bibs still available.
