For Immediate Release

The oldest and certainly one of the most popular road races on the Chattanooga Track Club schedule will be held on Saturday, April 13 when the 51st annual Chickamauga Chase 15K is contested at beautiful Chickamauga National Park.

The 9.3-mile race is the main event and it starts near Wilder Tower and makes one complete loop of the historical park where all runners will be blessed with beautiful flowering trees and all kinds of wildlife, including deer and wild turkeys. The route passes many historical monuments and documents that give details about some of the most vicious and deadly fighting in the Civil War.

While the 15K is the signature event of the day, there is also a 5K and an eight-mile trail run and all three are set to begin at 8:30 a.m. A two-mile walk also starts at 8:32 while the Kiddie K is set to begin at 8:35.

Day of race registration is set to open about 7 a.m., but participants can go to the track club website and register online.

Early packet pickup is available on Friday, April 12 at the Whole Foods Market, located at 301 Manufacturers Road on the second floor from 4-7 p.m.

Rodney Stoker was the overall winner in the 15K last year with a time of 51:52 while Nick McCormick was the runner-up in 53:59. Amanda Tate and Sara Gibson were the top two women with times of 59:50 and 59:56, respectively.

Joshua Stanley posted a time of 17:24 to win last year’s 5K while Helen Webb was the women’s winner in 20:56.

Jether English and Kiersten Boyd were the winners of the trail run a year ago with times of 47:22 and 1:03.15.

Proceeds from this year’s races benefit the Friends of the Park.
All the races will be held rain or shine.
