The shortest and fastest race on the Chattanooga Track Club schedule will take place on Saturday, April 27 when the annual Market Street Mile is contested in downtown Chattanooga.

The race, a flat-and-fast one-mile loop, starts at the corner of Second and Market Streets and travels south before turning right on Eighth Street. Another right on Broad leads back to the finish line just beside the Big River Grille.

Many Tennessee state records have been broken on this course, so if you think you’re within striking distance, come on down and give it a shot.

Race-day registration begins at 6:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The first race will start at 8:00 and be all wheelchair contestants, followed at 8:15 by those on adaptive bikes. Boys and girls 10 and under race at 8:35. Those ages 11-19 are set to begin at 9 with all runners ages 20-39 racing at 9:15. Those over 40 race at 9:30 while an untimed fun run for any age is set for 9:45.

The awards will be presented at 10.

Chase Faudi had the fastest time of 4:35.58 in 2018 and set a state record for guys age 16 while younger sister Hannah was the fastest female with a time of 5:38.54.
