RRCA President Brent Ayer has approved Southern Director Ken Bendy’s nomination of Melodie Thompson for the position of Tennessee RRCA State Rep.

Melodie lived in Las Vegas, NV for 15 years prior to moving to Chattanooga and was active in the local track club. She began running in 1988 to stay in shape and soon started running road races.  A fitness buff, she completed two self-contained bicycle trips across the USA in 1999 and 2003.  She returned to Tennessee in 2002 and became active in the Chattanooga Track Club; serving on the Board for 3 years as VP of Communications, President Elect, President, and now serving as Past President.  As President Elect, the club sent her to the RRCA Convention in Houston and she felt she learned so much interacting with other clubs and  attending seminars the year before, she attend the Chicago convention at her expense . Upon returning she shared her experiences with club Board Members and Race Directors and as a result, the club sent 3 representatives this year to Cincinnati.  She states, “The Chattanooga Track Club races and publications have improved over the course of the past 4 years as a result of furthering our involvement with the RRCA.”

For the past 5 years she has been leading jog/walk programs for the Chattanooga Track Club, the Walking Works Program at BCBST, and promoting the Run at Work program in the club.

For the four years of her tenure in the Chattanooga Track Club, the club provided links to important RRCA events and news through our e-news and website.

Melodie is looking forward to serving the Tennessee clubs and representing them in furthering the goals of the RRCA.

We extend a hearty welcome to the newest member of our RRCA state Rep team.
