The annual 65 Roses 5K will be held on Saturday,
April 12 with the 3.1-mile main event slated to begin at 8:30 a.m. and the
one-mile fun run to follow about 9:15.
The race, which starts and finishes on the
campus of Lee University in Cleveland, benefits the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
It's the 12th year for the 5K and 14th year for the Great Strides Walk. This
event has raised more than $631,000 since it first began.
Race-day registration is $35 for the 5K
and $15 for the walk. All runners will receive technical running socks
with T-shirts at the finish line.
There will also be a pasta dinner on Friday
night in Lee's Great Room at a cost of $10 per person. Tickets can be
purchased at the door.
While the usual age group awards will be
presented in the 5K race, the usual family-friendly activities will again be a
part, including blow-up jumping toys, cotton candy, face painting, snow cones
and more.
Isaac Pacheco is the overall defending champion
who had a winning time of 16:15 last year while Maggie Opelt is the defending
women's champ who had a time of 18:45. A total of 543 runners completed
