For Immediate Release

The 2014 Waterfront Triathlon will be held in downtown Chattanooga on Sunday, June 29 with the three-event race beginning with a Time Trial swim start from the Rowing Center adjacent to Scrappy Moore Field at 7:30 a.m.

This popular annual event, which attracts some of America's most outstanding individuals in the field, includes a swim of .93 mile that goes down the Tennessee River to the exit at Ross's Landing.  A 42K bike segment out Corridor J toward Soddy Daisy includes a couple of challenging hills before returning to the transition area before a 10K run out and back along the Tennessee Riverwalk concludes the competition.

The field is limited to 1,500 participants and registration will remain open until that number has been reached.  The entry fee is $150 per individual, $200 for a two-man relay and $225 for a three-man relay.  This event is one of the three major fund raisers for the Chattanooga Track Club, which is a non-profit organization whose goal is to stimulate interest in running and fitness for all ages and to promote wellness through these activities.

The race is again being directed by members of the CTC in partnership with Team Magic.

Packet pickup will be held on Saturday, June 28 at Ross's Landing from noon until 6 p.m. and registration will also be available at that time.  There will also be a huge expo at the same location from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday and from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday.  Vendor space is still available.

An event like this requires hundreds of volunteers and there are still openings for those who want to be part of the support from that angle.

This year's race is part of the Best of the U.S. Amateur Championship Series which honors true citizen-athletes of all ages with the opportunity to compete head-to-head.  The top three Tennessee resident amateur men and women will represent this state at the annual championship race.

Please be aware that some roads in the downtown area will be closed completely or partially and to be prepared for detours and delays.
