American Red Cross and Team Bruner benefit from proceeds generated by the Missionary Ridge Road Race.

CHATTANOOGA, TN. – Oct. 28, 2014 – The Missionary Ridge Road Race is a 4.7 mile road race held in the historic Missionary Ridge neighborhood and is put on by the Chattanooga Track Club (CTC) each year in August.  With the first Missionary Ridge Race dating back to 1973, it is among one of the oldest annual races in Chattanooga.   The Chattanooga Track Club has had a long standing partnership with the Local Chapter of the American Red Cross and in recent years has also partnered with Team Bruner.  The 2014 Missionary Ridge Road Race was held on August 9th and more than 200 runners completed the course.

The American Red Cross is a charity based organization with the primary objective of preventing and alleviating human suffering in the face of emergencies.  The organization is largely dependent upon the generosity of volunteers and donors.  The local chapter provides disaster relief to over 725,000 people across 11 counties in Southeast Tennessee.   The CTC proudly supports this organization and is pleased to make a $1,030 donation as a result of the 2014 Missionary Ridge Road Race.  To learn more about the ARC:

Team Bruner Fund was established in honor of John Bruner, an avid young runner who collapsed of a rare coronary artery anomaly at the 2007 Missionary Ridge Road Race.  It is particularly meaningful for the CTC to be able to make a $1,074 donation to this group. John’s father, Greg Bruner stated that these funds will be directly returned to the running community and ultimately another nonprofit by covering entry fees for elementary school runners to participate in the Silverbell Sprint – a 5k in Downtown Dalton on December 5th to benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Georgia.

The Chattanooga Track Club (CTC) is a nonprofit organization with the primary goal of promoting running and fitness to all ages and abilities.  The CTC holds more than a dozen races in the Chattanooga throughout the year.  While providing safe, well-managed events is a top priority for the Club, another key aspect of such events is to take it a step farther - utilizing running and fitness to create awareness and support for local nonprofit and charity groups.  Last year, the CTC was able to generate over $116,000 for local charities.   To learn more:
