Participant Waiver/Release

I know that running a road race is a potentially hazardous activity. I should not enter and run unless I am medically able and properly trained. I agree to abide by any decision of a race official relative to my ability to complete the run safely. I assume all risks associated with running in this event including, but not limited to: falls, contact with other participants, the effects of the weather, including high heat and/or humidity, traffic and the conditions of the road, all such risks being known and appreciated by me. Having read this waiver and knowing these facts and in consideration of your accepting my entry, I, for myself and anyone entitled to act on my behalf, waive and release the Chattanooga Track Club, its officers, directors, agents and employees, the race director and any volunteers or other persons assisting with the race, the City of (name of the city), all sponsors, their representatives and successors, including the Road Runners Club of America, its officers, directors, agents and employees (collectively, the “Releasees”), from all claims or liabilities of any kind arising out of my participation in this event even though that liability may arise out of negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons named in this waiver. I consent that I may receive any medical treatment deemed advisable in the event of accident, injury, or illness during participation. The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, (YOUR RACE NAME) encourages a headphone-free environment. I understand that bicycles, skateboards, baby joggers, roller blades or inline skates, and/or animals are not allowed in the race and I will abide by this guideline. I agree that I am prohibited from allowing someone else to use my race entry, race bib, or timing chip. I agree that I am not entitled to a refund of any participation fee should I be unable to participate in the event or if the event is postponed or cancelled due to weather, lack of a sufficient number of participants, or any other reason. I understand that race officials may, for any reason and in their absolute discretion, regulate, suspend, or revoke my participation in the event, and I must promptly abide by any directive by any race official.  I agree that suspension or revocation of participation shall not entitle me to a refund of any participation fee. I authorize the Releasees to take and use images of me relating to the event, including without limitation photographs, digital images, renderings, video or audio recordings, and accompanying written descriptions.  I agree that the Releasees, or any of them, own the images and all rights related to them and may use the images in any manner.  I understand and agree that I will not receive payment for any use of images in which I may appear.
