2019 Elementary Youth Cross Country Series



The Chattanooga Track Club offers a 1-mile cross country course race series held at Camp Jordan.  It is open to all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students in the Chattanooga area (including North GA).  Coaches of participating schools must provide ALL signed 2019 season waivers prior to student participation.  Parents or guardians of individual students participating must complete the 2019 season waiver prior to student participation: COMING SOON.


The cost is $1.00 per student for the entire season. Schools must provide payment for team prior to racing at the first meet.  Receipts will be provided via email at coach / parent request.




MEET #2, #3, & #4:  Students do NOT have to participate in all meets and may participate in any/all meets regardless of past participation.

Thursdays in September.  First Thursday in October held as rain date.  The first 3 races will be scored.  Awards will be presented following the 4th/final meet, which will NOT be scored.  We will also offer an all-comers race at the 4th meet.  Coaches, siblings, parents, and all interested in racing the 1-mile course may do so for $1.00/person and a signed waiver.  There will be an official race clock but the all-comers race will NOT be scored.

Safety is a priority.  We will monitor the weather on each meet day to determine if conditions look to be safe for racing. If conditions are not determined to be safe (potential for thunder/lightning or extreme heat) we will notify via email by NOON on race day. We will also post on the Chattanooga Track Club Facebook page.  Please advise parents to follow the Facebook page for timely communication in the event that you are not able to immediately relay cancelation notice.

Each grade will race separately.  Boys will start first. Girls will line up following start of boys’ race and will start after 2 minute delay.


·         3rd Grade  - 4:45 


·         4th Grade – 5:05


·         5th Grade – 5:25




All races will take place at Camp Jordan in East Ridge.  We will be in the recreation field directly across from the Arena on the side of the park closest to the entrance by Pro Bass Shops.  Link to info on Camp Jordan:






Parking is available in the paved lot adjacent to the arena as well as in the gravel lot adjacent to the recreation field.  Please do not park on the grass or along Camp Jordan Parkway.




Each racer will receive an index card in the finish chute upon completion of their race.  We will collect cards of the TOP 15 Finishers in each heat/grade/gender.  The card will indicate their placement on the results. 


Coaches Instructions for TOP 15 Finishers


1.  Collect cards earned by members of your team immediately.


2.  Write racers name, grade, gender and school on the card.


3.  Turn in to the Race Officials immediately following each heat so that results can be calculated in a timely manner.


Names of top 15 finishers will be listed on results. All finish times will be posted and coaches may use the place cards to determine each student’s finish time. To see an example from prior years:


Results will be compiled and posted on the Chattanooga Track Club’s website typically within 24 hours ( Please email with any questions or corrections.


Scores from the first three meets will be used to determine overall top 15 racers from each grade for each gender.  Top 15 will each receive an individual medal.  At 4th/final meet, top 10 racers from each grade for each gender will receive a ‘top finisher’ award for the season.  PLEASE NOTE:



The Chattanooga Track Club will provide volunteers to set up the course, finish line, handle timing, and cleanup.  EACH TEAM must provide ONE volunteer at each meet to assist with management of the finish line chute.  Teams may assign one volunteer to assist for the duration of the race, or volunteers may swap out during the race as long as continuous coverage is provided.
