Description changed on August 20 based on information on Map My Run. Runners are encouraged to see the detailed elevation graphs via the links above.
For the 5K and 10K, there is a climb near the end of mile 1 (60 foot gain in 0.4 miles) and corresponding downhill in the last mile. Mile 2 of the 5K is completely flat (on dam). For the 10K, there are two additional, more significant hills. The first is from the end of the dam at the 1.5 mile mark up to the 2 mile mark (100 foot rise). The second, beginning at 3.2 mile mark, goes 170 feet uphill over 0.5 miles and is one of the most significant hills in Chattanooga area races. 10K is almost completely downhill or flat after the 3.7 mile mark.
