CTC 2024 Annual Meeting & Banquet
Come Celebrate Our Running Community and a terrific year of running, races and fun!
Join us at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center for the 2024 Annual Meeting and Celebration Banquet and Dance!
We have modified our format this year in the hopes of offering more of interest and fun to all of our members.
Return of the Speaker
For many years, we have brought in speakers of interest to our running community from all over the country - coaches, elite runners, authors and motivational speakers who have given their time and hearts to running and racing.
This year, we are delighted to have Coach Pete Rea from Zap Endurance.
Pete Rea has been the elite head coach at ZAP Endurance Team for the 20 years of its existence along the way coaching over 60 athletes to the Olympic Trials and numerous other US and World championship events. ZAP develops post collegiate Olympic caliber distance runners in the hills around Blowing Rock, NC with the balance of the physical and mental aspects of the sport. Our local Cameron Bean was an elite training under Pete at ZAP.
A graduate of the University of Connecticut, where he was an All Big East Conference XC selection, Pete moved to Atlanta and ran for Team Nike South and found his way to ZAP in 2001. He is a USATF Level 3 coach and holds a World Athletics Level C Certificate in advanced coaching principles.
Married to Zika (the Z in ZAP), they have two teenagers and live in Blowing Rock, NC.
The mantra at ZAP is "The Mind is the Athlete". Pete will share time tested insights and usable tips about the balance of the mental and the physical training for distance runners not only for elites but for all ages and abilities as well. Pete breaks down his vast knowledge from his learnings and the best coaches in the business into relatable nuggets you can instantly apply to your training program.
